We're Hiring: Outreach Specialist

At Make-A-Day, dignity is not a destination. It’s a starting point.

Every day, our team is out on the streets, in encampments, and at pop-up sites across central Ohio, meeting people where they are and offering a real path forward. We run mobile outreach, justice-navigation services, pop-up care villages, and case management for people facing homelessness, poverty, and the kind of systemic barriers that most systems are not designed to remove.

We’re hiring an Outreach Specialist to join that work.

The Role

This is a frontline position. You’ll be the person showing up consistently in places that most people drive past. You’ll build relationships with neighbors who are often overlooked, assess what they need, connect them to housing, healthcare, legal aid, and behavioral health services, and follow through until those connections hold.

It’s not a desk job. Some days you’re doing a needs assessment in a park. Some days you’re loading up the van or helping set up a pop-up site in the cold. Review the full job description here.

What We’re Looking For

  • Community Health Worker (CHW) certification required; if you don’t currently hold it, you’ll need to obtain it within six months of hire. We support staff in getting there.

  • Someone who builds trust by showing up consistently

  • A strong communicator who is comfortable in person-centered, trauma-informed practice

  • Experience with homelessness, poverty, or resource navigation, lived experience is welcomed and valued

  • Comfortable working independently in the field and coordinating closely with partner organizations

  • Willing to handle whatever the day requires, from complicated system navigation to helping unload equipment

  • High school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and reliable transportation

Compensation & Benefits

  • $45,000–$50,000 annually, commensurate with experience

  • Generous paid time off

  • Medical and dental insurance and 401k

  • Hybrid work flexibility

  • Training and professional development
