Winter Warming Support Services

This winter, Make-A-Day is partnering with the Winter Warming Center (North) to serve our chronically unhoused neighbors who are closest to housing. These neighbors are already taking steps toward stability, but keep running into the same roadblocks: missing IDs, stalled benefits, old court cases, or gaps in income. Our role is to remove those barriers quickly so people can move forward.

Each week, we meet with guests one-on-one inside the center and work through practical next steps. We replace vital documents, apply for benefits and healthcare, connect people to legal help for record sealing, and support housing applications and referrals. If several guests need the same service, we bring partners directly into the center so progress doesn’t get lost in appointments, waitlists, or transportation challenges.

Our goal is simple: turn a safe place to stay warm into a place where real progress happens. Success looks like approved benefits instead of pending ones, housing applications submitted instead of planned, and legal issues resolved instead of avoided. Warmth matters tonight. Removing barriers means someone can actually move into housing tomorrow.
